Defeat 2,000
monsters to unlock the Galaxy and Universe difficulty settings for your next
new game.
Voice
Player
Beat the game once
on any difficulty, and you unlock the Voice Player. Beat the game with
additional characters in your party to unlock their respective voices.
Easy
level up (after Salva)
If you want to
easily gain levels at this point of the game, don’t enter Krosse yet. Take the
road to the left and follow it until you see a mountain path at the end of the
road. Save your game and enter the Largus Mountains. The enemies here are too powerful for you
to beat but you’re specifically seeking battle to only one type of enemy: The
Black Balloons.
The Black Balloons only absorb your MP so you can easily defeat them with
ordinary attacks. Furthermore, getting ambushed by these guys will usually
reward you with multiple level ups since they ambush you in groups of 6 or
more. Keep battling them until your level is high enough to endure normal enemy
attacks. Remember to keep fighting only near the entrance so you can save
immediately after defeating a group of Black Balloons. Don’t mind getting
killed and reloading your game since this is an easy (and lazy way) of boosting
your party levels early on. You can train over level 20 if you want.
Cave of Trials
There is a secret
dungeon in the game called the "Cave Of Trials". To unlock it, you must use the save
point right before fighting Gabriel. Your save icon should turn blue. Then,
return to the arena in Fun City, and talk to the old man in the stands in
the north side of the arena. He says he can recover your memories; accept, and
you'll return to Arlia on Expel. Leave Arlia and you'll have your Psynard; the Cave Of Trials is located at the lone dot on the desert
island, southwest on the world map.
Removing
Gabriel's limiter
First off, you must
witness the Private Action in Kurik where a woman named Philia is warning the
citizens to evacuate the city. Next, you must reach the final save point in
Phynal. After that, you must leave Phynal and view a Private Action in
Centropolis. You'll find Philia again in the lobby of the main building. After
you talk to her, Gabriel's limiter will be removed and he will be much more
powerful than his original form. It is recommended that you go through the Maze
of Tribulations and get your levels very high (120+ at the very least) before
attempting to fight him.
Battle Suits
If you have Ernest
in your party, do private actions in Marze and Linga and try to steal Battle
Suits from him. They are the most powerful armor in the 'main' game.
Orchestra
First, you’ll need
to unlock more songs by having somebody with high Music specialty level compose
songs from each instrument. Composing consumes a Feather Pen so do this while
inside the item shop so you can immediately buy more as you need it. Try to
compose as many songs as you can per instrument. (so far I have only observed
that you can compose 2-3 songs per instrument) Once you have enough songs, you
can now use the Orchestra super specialty. While the orchestra music is playing
in the background, your chances of success are increased dramatically when
using your specialty or skills to create, modify or enhance items.
Machinery
This specialty
allows players to create machines that will increase the success rate of
specific specialties. Also, these items can be sold at high price as well.

Determination
Don't spend your SP
early in the game. Wait until you get the skill Determination and focus in
maxing it out first. This skill lowers the skill points needed for all the
other skills.
Easy
Experience Trick
Using the Super
Specialty Skill Contraband, keep forging materials until you get the
Counterfeit Medal. When used on a character, it will reduce the required EXP to
1. The higher the Contraband level, the better chances of producing this item.
Since it is hard to produce,Replicating it is a viable solution. You'll need a
Magic Camera and some Magic Films to attempt to reproduce it. If is advisable
to have a maxed out Imitation skill before attempting. Try to create a RIRICA
camera through Machinery skill to increase your replication chances
dramatically!
Staying
at the inn for free
Using the
Contraband super specialty, keep creating items until you create a Contract.
When used in a town, the inn there will offer free lodging FOREVER. You can
reproduce several copies and use it on every town you visit to get free lodging
anywhere.
Easy
money
Its easier to do
this with a high level Group Appraisal super specialty where you can control
the prices of the shops at will.
Using the Contraband super specialty, keep creating materials until you get
Forged Bills, Checks, Stocks, Documents, etc. These can be sold at a really
high amount if you Raise the price using the Group Appraisal super specialty.
Use this trick to earn millions of fol early in the game.
Level
Grinding
With the Train
skill, your characters' stats will decrease but the experience gained
increases. If you have several characters with Train, you'll unlock the
Enlightenment super specialty. Activate this to earn more SP per level up. If
you have Scouting, you can set it to search for enemies and you're good to go.
Its better to do this outside towns so you can rest and save as needed.
Art
The Art Specialty
can also produce very helpful support and recovery items. Make sure to have
someone with the right talent to specialize this skill.
Weapon
Sharing
If there are
anybody in your team that are using the same weapon, have one of them concentrate
on leveling up his/her customization skill. This way, you will only need to
have that character forge the weapons and share it with the other, saving SP.
Familiar
Have someone with
talents pertaining to animals learn the Familiar specialty. This will enable
you to send a bird to order recovery items. Having this specialty can be a
life-saver in deep dungeons.
Bunny
Call
If several
characters learned the Familiar specialty, the Bunny Call super specialty will
be unlocked. This will allow your party members to summon a large bunny which
they can "ride" in the world map to travel faster and avoid enemies.
The bunny can also run over mountains but not on seas.

Aeterna
Before leaving
Lacuer after the Arms Tournament, make sure to visit Gamgee's house in the
western portion of the town. You will receive the Deadly Edge sword as
part of the scene.
Once you have two mithrils, make sure you have a high customization level. Save
your game, and try forging the Deadly Edge with a mithril to get Sword of
Minos. Forge the Sword of Minos with another Mithril to get the Aeterna.
This is Claude's most powerful weapon in the main game; the other one is
located in the secret, optional dungeon.
Recruiting
Welch Vineyard
Welch is the
additional and only secret character in the game. To recruit her, perform a
private action in Lacuer before heading to the Hoffman Ruins. You'll encounter
her on the bridge going to the castle.
Sprite's
Bracelet
It is probably one
of the best kept secrets in the game and previous players of the game’s
Playstation version should know about this; getting the “Mischief” or what is
known in the game as “Spite’s Bracelet”. This is a very, very rare accessory
that can only be STOLEN only from a girl named Filia, just before the pending
incident in Kurik. As long as it’s equipped, it will give you random items
while walking.
Pixie's
Bracelet
In the second floor
of Eluria Tower, go to the left to a find a secret room
with three chests. The middle one contains the Pixie's Bracelet, which is an
upgraded version of the Sprite's Bracelet that can be stolen from Filia early
in the game. It will give you better, random items while walking and can be
equipped alongside with the Sprite's Bracelet.
Famed
sword veinslay
This is the most
powerful weapon in the game go to fun city go to the tournament participate in
the tournament and pick duel battle pick claude make sure you have godslayer
and put the special art helmet break keep using it to win and make it hardcore
the win the four rounds then you will get it.
Customization
skill
This can make your
weapon more deadly or more powerful anyone who has it can only create the one
that they can equip.
No
Encounters in Dungeons
Like the other Star Ocean for PSP, if you open the disc tray while in
a dungeon, you will not face any battles. Just remember to close the disc tray
everytime you change screens (causing it to reload data), or before boss
fights.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution Cheat:
Suspend Random Encounters
In a dungeon or
cave, pop open the UMD slot and remove your UMD from the PSP and random
encounters will cease! Pop it back in before a boss battle and you're good to
go.

To unlock the
secret dungeon, the Cave of Trials, head to the save point just before you
fight Gabriel. Your save icon will be blue. Now, head to Fun City and go to the north side of the Arena.
Here, you'll find an old man that says he can recover your memories. Accept,
and you'll be transported to Arlia on Expel. Leave Arlia and travel to the Cave of Trials, located in the southwest corner of the
world map. It's a dot on a desert island.

Unlockable: Voice Player
Beat the game to
unlock the Voice Player. Each additional character you beat the game with adds
their voice for sample playback.

Uber Gabriel
In Kurik you must
witness the Private Action of Philia telling people to evacuate. After reaching
the final save point in Phynal, leave Phynal and viewa Private Action in
Centropolis. Philia appears here in the main building's lobby. Talk to her this
time and Gabriel's limiter will be removed and he will be ultra-powerful. Make
sure your levels are significantly high before taking him on.
Star Ocean: Second Evolution Hint:
Instant Kills with Algol
First, you have to
blacksmith (with the Magical Rasp) Damascus and make 'Algol,' a shield strictly for
Precis. Equip it, and a Stone Check just in case. The only other thing to do is
make sure she can parry an attack and have her charge the enemy. A successful
parry will instantly kill ANY enemy, including Iseria Queen.
